Intro
The Serra Mesa Community Council has filed suit to block the conversion of three industrial lots into one massive multifamily residential building at the intersection of Aero Drive and Sandrock Road across from Montgomery Field, at the entrance to Serra Mesa. The proposed project, dubbed “Palladium at Aero,” would replace four relatively small, deeply set back, one- and two-story buildings with a single, massive, extremely dense structure up to 6 levels tall, extending into the existing public right-of-way, with an incompatible architectural style.
The Serra Mesa Community Council believes that Palladium at Aero, as approved by the City Council, is not in compliance with the City of San Diego General Plan, the Kearny Mesa Community Plan, the Serra Mesa Community Plan, the California Environmental Quality Act, and the legal prohibition against spot-zoning and piecemeal land use planning.
Our case was featured in the San Diego Union-Tribune on December 25, 2008. You can read the article here:
We publish updates on the status of the lawsuit in the Observer, the bi-monthly publication of the Serra Mesa Community Council. You can join the SMCC and subscribe to the Observer at this link. An electronic reprint of the latest update is also available here.
